(Note: You will move in to your 2009-2010 assigned residence hall room at this time.) Outdoor Equipment Issued. 5:45 pm in the Benes Room of HWCC » Dinner and informal discussion with Student Services staff members, for families and students. Sunday, August 16 6:15 am » Depart for Seneca Rocks, WV from Smith Hall parking lot. 1 pm: Arrive at Seneca Rocks - Lunch Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18 Schedule: Note: You will get to indicate your group choice on your registration.
Students participating in the rock climbing, day hiking, and canoeing will do those activities each day and return to a campground in the evening. Backpacking groups will be separate from the main group for the first three days of the trip. The whole group will go white water rafting together. Backpacking: A three day, three night backpacking trip through some of the most pristine wilderness in the Mid-Atlantic. Rock Climbing: Seneca Rocks is one of the premier rock climbing destinations in the Eastern United States, and has a lot to offer climbers of all skill levels. You will learn basic climbing techniques, safety procedures, and have a blast! Day Hiking: Seneca Rocks area has an abundance of wonderful day hikes. Join this group for a hike through forests, mountains, rivers, and amazing views. Canoeing: West Virginia offers pristine rivers that carve their way through remote wilderness landscapes. You may catch a glimpse of a bald eagle while learning the basics of river canoeing. Whitewater Rafting: The New River in Southern West Virginia is the East’s most popular whitewater rafting river. Everyone will drive down to the New, and raft down this exciting and amazing river. We will be guided by a professional rafting outfitter. Wednesday, August 19 Whitewater Rafting at the New River Gorge. Return to OWU late. Thursday, August 20 Turn in borrowed outdoor equipment. Orientation |
